As a wedding day & affair planner, I'm subject to more than my fair share of indignation and rage. You see, til people plan their first wedding day, they never think about how much weddings cost. They wish to have reasonably priced wedding ceremonies, yet they also want to have all of the glitz and glamor. The problem is that, even if you buy cost-effective bridal dresses, affordable wedding day cakes, inexpensive bridesmaid gowns, and all the rest, it will still add up to a lot of money. The bottom line is that, if you want to have that reasonably priced wedding day, you need to be willing to make sacrifices.

I'm not saying that having reasonably priced wedding ceremonies is impossible. If you're willing to have a small wedding ceremony with only a few of your very closest friends there, you can do it for quite a rational price. You can make it special by incorporating touches like top wedding songs. The problem is that, if having reasonably priced wedding ceremonies is your intention, you need to plan everything around it. That means that you have to have a small guest list, make reservations at some inexpensive place, have some affordable wedding day dress, rent a tuxedo for the groom, & play top wedding songs on a less expensive sound system, generally scrimp & save at every opportunity. Some of my clients have actually taken their own wedding day photographs to save on the cost of hiring a wedding photographer!

The bottom line is that the most inexpensive weddings are done in a judge's chambers. Everything else which you do costs extra money. Some families go in to debt for years because of what they spend on throwing a grand, extravagant wedding. To me, it seems like a pity. When I meet customers who truly wish to have inexpensive weddings, I tell them to have them in the back-yard. That way, they can save on wedding day reservations - & play your top wedding songs on a boombox, if necessary! If they're really ambitious, they can even cater it them-selves. If there are going to be more than 30 people there, however, this is generally not an extremely good idea.

I suppose that it all really depends on what you expect from your wedding day. When I first got married, all I wanted was some simple ceremony to give my love to my wife. If this is all that you wish as well, it is going to be very easy for you to plan some reasonably priced wedding day. If, on the flip side of the coin, you want to have an elaborate party with all of your friends and family, you will have to pay for it.
