Teddy The Astounding Shelter Pet

This is the short story of my Teddy. A story of life, love, and letting go. A dog rescue.

The dogs Barf diet basically involves feeding raw food to the dogs. Why do this? This way the food is purer nutrients with no unnatural additives or fillers. The same as we do not need the additives in our food the dogs do not need them either.

For the past 6 months, Teddy has been my kid. Particularly because I've had him since he was merely a baby. Teddy came into my life as a 6 week old puppy, when I saved his litter of 8 tiny puppies from inevitable euthanasia in a shelter. The real reason for their pending deaths: their dog breed.

Teddy's mother was a Pit Bull. Of course, this also makes Teddy a Pit Bull mix. And even though he is every bit as much a "Boxer mix" (that, by the way, is considered "acceptable" by most shelter standards), the Pit Bull label guaranteed his fate--death. So tough to get parents to adopt a dog of this type.

And therefore, I rescued 8 Pit Bull mix puppies and helped bring them back to life. Several of these pups were malnourished, demanding extra vet care, regular feedings, and costly tablets.

As you dog is a very important part of your family then we assume you are caring for him well. This means feeding him and supplying him with shelter, but what about a gift now and again? Does he get anything at Christmas or birthday time, for example?

Teddy was one of these sick babies, and out of the 8, he needed the most out of me. He was so small, and I remember how he'd curl up his small body in my arms and shower me with kisses as I nursed him back to health. I treasured every single minute of those early days with my Teddy, and those memories will always be in my heart for so long as I survive.
