Finally the long awaited day of my life had arrived! For the past two and a half years I was saving my wage to get a four wheel car for myself, one that could haul six of us, that involves me and my 5 friends, for our weekend trips.

I shortlisted a couple of cars from the long list of 6 seater vehicles. My parents asked me to search for 6 seater cars, but majority of the so called 6 seater cars out there could barely fit the massive bulk of my three friends in the rear seat. So I ended up with 2 off-roaders that can comfortably support six people, and also our vacation gadgets like tents, mountain bike etc.

Chevrolets are primarily designed to be high-powered but in the new models the Chevrolet design team have truly pushed the limits of enhanced functionality with their automobiles.

The first on the list was Mahindra Thar, a classic jeep, with soft top that can be removed when needed. The next one was a SUV named Sumo from the stables of Tata. I understand both of them fall under different groups, but their price tag forced me to shortlist them. The former came at a price of $12000 and the second at $13000, a huge difference of $1000.

The market for large passenger vehicles is moving up these days. Increasingly more car producers are entering the fray into the manufacturing of 7 passenger vehicles that offer an even and secure ride.

Thar appeared more aggressive and was an incredibly capable off-roader. Meanwhile Sumo looked more like a family man's vehicle and was not that great as Thar in off-roading. My mind was switched towards Thar, because I always had this love for classic vehicles in me. I was puzzled between the two, my family was more keen towards the Sumo and my passion for jeep was burning inside me.

Then all of a sudden my Grandpa's face came into my mind, he was a great traveller and did travel from Leh to Kanyakumari, the entire length of India from North to South in his Royal Enfield. He always said "pursue what your mind wants, and you will never regret", and that shed light into my perplexed darkness.

Now the 6 of us are planning for a Himalayan trip, following the tracks left behind by my favorite Grandpa.
